The SkillsFuture Workforce Development Grant (Job Redesign+), or WDG(JR+) for short, is a Singapore SME grant that helps Singapore companies fund workforce transformation. It assists companies to redesign jobs with a consultant’s help (for example, automating repetitive tasks so staff can take on higher-value work), upskilling teams, and adopting technology. It’s one part of the broader Enterprise Workforce Transformation Package (EWTP), which also includes a $10,000 SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC). It replaced the old Productivity Solutions Grant-Job Redesign grant (PSG-JR), which had a lower funding cap at $30,000.
If you’re considering improving your SME’s operations with technology like AI agents or custom software, it helps to understand what the WDG(JR+) covers, how it works, and where a technology partner can fit into the process.

Component 1: Workforce Consultancy (up to $50,000)
This funds a pre-approved consultant to work with you end-to-end, from diagnosis to a finished plan.
1. Diagnose what’s actually wrong with your workforce first
Before redesigning anything, a consultant runs an initial business diagnosis to figure out where roles are inefficient, where skills are missing, and what’s actually worth fixing.
2. Assess your company’s AI readiness
A structured evaluation of whether your current workforce, processes, and job structures can support AI adoption, and what needs to change first.
3. Assess your human capital needs
A broader look at whether you have the right people, in the right numbers, with the right skills, to support your business plans.
4. Assess employees’ “career health”
Reviewing whether current roles offer employees a sustainable, motivating career path, which is useful if retention or engagement is a concern.
5. Redesign job roles, or fractionalise them
The core of this job redesign grant, which is restructuring what employees actually do so skills are better matched to tasks. This can include fractionalisation, which is to split one overloaded role into several more focused ones instead of one person juggling too much.
6. Build flexi-work arrangements into your workforce strategy
If you want to introduce or formalise hybrid work, flexible hours, or similar arrangements, this is covered as part of the broader consultancy scope.
7. Develop a workforce strategy and implementation plan
The consultancy ends with a concrete, company-specific plan with recommendations and a roadmap for rolling changes out.
Component 2: Capability Building Initiatives (up to $60,000)
Must be bundled with Component 1 and/or 3. It can’t be applied alone.
This funds onsite support, mentorship, and training so your own people can run job redesign independently after the consultant leaves.
8. Train your line managers and HR team directly
Onsite coaching and mentorship so your internal team builds real capability, not just a report to file away.
9. Put a formal job redesign framework in place
A repeatable internal process for redesigning roles going forward, instead of relying on external consultants every time.
10. Strengthen your workforce planning
Building your team’s ability to plan headcount, skills, and structure ahead of business needs.
11. Build clearer career progression pathways
Helping HR design and communicate growth paths for employees, a common driver of retention.
12. Enhance your team’s overall HR skillset
General uplift in your line managers’ and HR staff’s ability to manage change, not just execute it.
Component 3: Workforce Tech Solutions (up to $90,000)
Must be combined with Component 1 and/or 2. You can’t apply for this alone.
This funds technology that supports data-driven workforce decisions.
13. Adopt a workforce analytics platform
Tools that give you visibility into workforce data like headcount trends, performance, skills distribution to inform decisions.
14. Adopt skills-gap analysis tools
Software that identifies where your employees’ current skills fall short of what roles actually need.
15. Adopt learning & development (L&D) systems
Platforms that manage and track employee training and development, tied to identified skills gaps.
16. Adopt AI-infused HR tech tools
AI-powered systems that provide insights for both organisational development and individual employee growth.
Two more ways to stretch the grant further
Combine all three components into one project.
Since each component has its own sub-cap ($50K + $60K + $90K), an SME running a full transformation with diagnosis, internal training, and new tech can combine all three, up to the overall $150,000 cap. This is where the grant delivers the most value.
Offset your expenses with SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit.
Separately, every company with at least 3 resident employees gets a $10,000 SFEC credit in an online wallet. From 1 December 2026, this credit can be used to immediately offset up to 90% of your remaining out-of-pocket costs on eligible transformation initiatives and courses.
💡Any unused credit from the current SFEC expires on 30 November 2026, so use it before then if you have a balance.

Eligibility
Who qualifies for the Skillsfuture Workforce Development Grant (Job Redesign+)? Companies that are:
- Registered or incorporated and operating in Singapore
- Have at least 3 local employees (Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents)
You must apply for the Skillsfuture Workforce Development Grant (Job Redesign+) before hiring a consultant. The grant will not be applicable if you have already paid for job redesign grant consultancy, or signed a contract/purchase order for JR-related consultancy.
Payment
For this Skillsfuture Workforce Development Grant, you only need to pay your portion of the bill. For example, say a project costs $10,000 and you’re an SME getting 70% funding:
- You pay the consultant $3,000 (your 30% share) directly.
- The government pays the consultant the other $7,000 directly, once project milestones are approved.
Normally with Singapore SME grants, you pay 100% upfront and wait to be reimbursed by the government. With the Skillsfuture Workforce Development Grant, the government pays its share straight to the consultant, so you do not need to front the money.

Frequently asked questions
Services that are included in typical enterprise workforce transformation packages are workforce diagnostics, job/role redesign, leadership and HR capability building, change management support, and enabling technology like analytics or L&D platforms. The mix depends on the provider, but most packages combine strategic consultancy with hands-on implementation rather than just one or the other.
HR software is a tool. It manages tasks like payroll, analytics, or training records. A transformation package is broader: it includes the strategy, diagnosis, and change management around why and how your workforce should evolve, with software (if any) as just one component of that plan.
Rather than “buying” one off the shelf, you’d typically engage a consultant with relevant sector experience. Under the EWTP, your Anchor Programme Partner (SBF or SNEF) can match you with a pre-approved consultant who has worked with financial services firms, or you can browse the pre-approved list yourself and shortlist based on sector track record.
